There are countless things about the GMAT, or Graduate Management Admission Test, that students need to understand and master. The GMAT is designed to measure the potential for real-world business and management success. The GMAT has also been shown to predict success in business school programs. Over 2,000 universities in the United States use your score as part of their selection criteria. Thus, if your goal is to earn a Master of Finance, a Master of Accountancy, or an MBA, it is imperative that you perform well on the test. In order to do well, you need to be proficient in written English, arithmetic, geometry, and algebra. It is possible to find tutors that can help you with each of these individual subjects, but Varsity Tutors can help you find a talented GMAT tutor that is an expert in all of these subjects.

The GMAT is divided into four sections: Quantitative, Verbal, Integrated Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. The quantitative section is designed to measure your ability to analyze and use information, interpret graphic data, solve quantitative problems, and reason quantitatively. This section has two different types of questions, which include data sufficiency and problem solving. Problem solving is what you usually think of when you think of doing math, while data sufficiency measures how well you analyze a math question utilizing your critical thinking skills. The verbal section is broken down into three parts, which include sentence correction, critical reasoning, and reading comprehension. The most important and challenging aspect of the verbal section of the GMAT asks you to analyze and assess the validity of conflicting arguments. The integrated reasoning section attempts to measure your ability to evaluate data that is presented in multiple formats from multiple sources. This section gives you a variety of data and asks you to integrate it into a clear picture. It presents data in four different formats, including multi-source reasoning, table analysis, two-part analysis, and graphics interpretation. The analytical writing assessment gives you 30 minutes to assess an argument. It is designed to measure your ability to analyze the reasoning behind a particular argument and write a critique of it.
